our mission

The Brooklyn Kitchen and The Meat Hook invite NYC schools to take a fieldtrip to our laboratory kitchen and butcher shop, to spend the day learning about food sourcing, meat and cooking.

We’ve been educating home cooks since 2006, and we know that the kitchen is a great classroom. That’s why we open our doors to NYC Public Schools to share our passion for responsibly sourced products.  We make every effort to know where our products are coming from, who’s making them and the hands they pass through on their way to us, and we want your students to know why this is so important to us.

Bring Your Class

We offer a very limited number of field trips throughout the school year to classes that meet our qualifications.  Learn more and apply to bring your class!

Support our Program

We host events throughout the year to help raise funds, so be sure to come to the next Meatball Slapdown and Ice Cream Day at Smorgasburg.

Special thanks to the companies and individuals who donated to our initial 2011 KickStarter fundraiser!  Please continue to spread the word about the program, and THANKS for your support!
