ONLINE ORDERING
I am trying to add products to my cart but nothing is happening.

Our website will not allow you to put more of an item in your cart than we have in stock. If you'd like to be notified when we have more of that item in stock, you can email or call us at 718.389.2982.
Can I use a gift card for online purchases?

No. Unfortunately at this time we cannot accept gift cards through our website. However, we can take your order over the phone and ship it to you. Call us at 718.389.2982 to order products over the phone.
-
The constraints of our web software prevents us from skipping the shipping option when checking out. There is nothing to be sent to you or for you to pick up and you will not be charged shipping no matter what option you choose. However, we suggest you choose "FLAT - Pick-Up - Free".
Help! I'm being charged tax for a class!
-
The constraints of our web software does not allow us to set products to not include tax. However, your order is not actually processed until we run it by hand in our store and taxes will -not- be charged to your credit card.

GENERAL CLASS QUESTIONS:
Where do you hold your classes?
-
Most of our classes are held at The Brooklyn Kitchen Labs, located at 100 Frost Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. If the class is at this off-site location it will be clearly explained in the class description.
How much do your classes cost?
-
Class prices vary depending on a variety of factors including materials used, whether the class is hands on or a demonstration and teacher's prep time. Prices generally range from $40 to $125, though we have had classes priced outside that range and we do host free events. See our Class Calendar for details on specific classes.
Do you offer certificate programs?
-
We do not offer certification programs. Our classes are aimed at home cooks and focus on home-cooking techniques.
Do you ever do private classes?
-
Yes. We can arrange private classes (birthday parties, corporate events, etc.) on a topic of your choice if you give us enough lead time. Check out our Space Rental Page and fill out our Private Class Request Form and we will get back to you with detailed information and a price quote. Contact us with your request and we will get back to you with a price quote.
Will you ever host a class about....?
-
If there is something you've been interested in learning about but we don't currently offer, get in touch! One of our teachers might be perfect or we may be able to find an appropriate person. We are always open to new ideas!
I'm a chef and I'd love to teach a class! Do you have any openings?
-
If you have an idea for a class we don't currently offer please get in touch! We are always open to new ideas.
-
Some classes are hands on and some are demonstrations. You can check the class descriptions for more details.
Will you ever have a hands on butchering class?
-
We are not equipped at this time for hands on butchering classes. Sorry.
Do I need to bring anything with me to the class?
-
Usually we will provide all the equipment and ingredients you need for a class. If we do need you to bring something to the class (we ask that you bring a knife to Knife Skills, for instance), it will be speficied in the class description. You do not need to bring your receipt or confirmation email to the class. We will have your name on file and attendance will be taken.
REGISTERING FOR CLASSES:

What if I can't make it to a class a signed up for?
-
The easiest thing for you to do is find a friend to take your spot! Class spots are fully transferable.
We can switch your reservation to another date the class is being given, but you will incur a 15% cancellation fee as per our posted Cancellation Policy:
If cancellation is made at least 1 week (7 days) before the class, we will honor a store credit, less 15% of the cost of the class. With less than one week, we cannot offer any refund. If you are registering three or more people for a class, a two (2) week notice is required for cancellation. This is the amount of time needed to find replacements for the class.
How will I find out if a class I signed up for was cancelled?
-
Occasionally, if a teacher gets sick or if we do not meet a minimum number of registered students within 48 hours of a class, we will reschedule or cancel the class. In these situations, we will contact you directly at the contact phone number you have provided and we offer a full refund.
I signed up for a class but now I can't find it on the calendar!
-
The class you signed up for has sold out. We take sold out classes off of the calendar page to avoid overselling.
Is there a waiting list for the class I'd like to take?
-
We do not keep waiting lists for classes. We will repost classes if spots become available but it has proven too unwieldy to keep a formal waiting list. You can check our class page for available classes or follow our twitter account for announcments of last minute opening.
When is the next [Knife Skills, Pig Butchering, Pickling, Etc.] Class?
-
All of our classes are listed online. We announce all the classes for any given month in the middle of the previous month. They sell out quickly. The best way to keep up to date on our class schedule is to sign up for our mailing list.
Can I reserve a spot in the class now and pay for it later?
-
No. Students must pay for classes in full in order to reserve their spot. You can register with a credit card through our website or on the phone. You can register with cash or credit in person in our store.
