This 8in chef's knife is by far the most versatile knife you will own. Used for a plethora of tasks, including peeling, trimming, chopping, slicing, and mincing, this is the knife used most by professional chefs. As one solid, hand forged piece, the well balanced design gives the user ultimate control over their technique. A triple rivet handle, broad blade, bolsterless edge and gradually tapered spine round off this essential cutting tool.
The Elite series by Messermeister is seriously some of the best Western style knives you can get your paws on. These hand-forged beasts are handcrafted one at a time in Solingen, Germany with the best stainless steel Germany has to offer (which is really good). Finished with a triple-rivet, fully exposed tang, these knives give you the feeling of full comfort and control with industrial performance. One significant feature of the Messermeister Elite is the shortened bevel, which gives the knives a nimbleness and comfort in the hand. This is our #1 best selling knife for a reason. On the Rockwell scale of hardness, the Meridian Elite clocks in at the glorious rating of 56, meaning it's hard enough to hold an edge for a long period of time, yet soft enough to easily sharpen when needed. What's the Rockwell scale, you ask? Check it out, nerd: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockwell_scale.
The “master knife"! Meaning just that in German, Messermeister was founded by Bernd Dressler, work for a German knife company. As Dressler honed both knives and his craft, he saw a need for a more functional knife that also performed among the top culinary products he was manufacturing. Having consulted with top chefs and retailers from across the country, Dressler introduced a level of quality that Western knife manufacturers had never seen before.
